In his speech, CJI Ramana also emphasised the importance of courts in fostering mediation.

On Saturday, Chief Justice of India (CJI) NV Ramana emphasised the importance of mediation as a method of resolving conflicts, which might help save court time and resources.

The CJI illustrated his point by recounting an instance from the Mahabharata in which Lord Krishna attempted diplomacy to halt the Kurukshetra war.

"We all know the repercussions of failed mediation," the Chief Justice stated. "Imagine how many lives could have been saved if Lord Krishna had succeeded."

He was speaking at a two-day national conference in Ekta Nagar, Gujarat, on "Mediation and Information Technology."

Ramnath Kovind, the President of India, opened the conference.

In his speech, CJI Ramana also emphasised the importance of courts in fostering mediation.

"Courts must make a concerted effort to make mediation and bargaining a requirement for case management. Every opportunity for pre-litigation mediation should be pursued by lawyers "He expressed his opinion.

He also said that alternative dispute resolution procedures can help preserve judicial resources.

"Pre-litigation mediation and negotiation are two of the most powerful methods for resolving disputes because they maximise stakeholder participation. ADR is founded on a paradigm of participation "The Chief Justice of the International Court of Justice (CJI) stated.

According to him, mediation is gaining traction in the international economic realm, with private mediation at the pre-litigation stage becoming the standard.
