Legislation on the Mediation Bill pending in Parliament: Kiren Rijiju

"Our government, under Prime Minister Modi, is committed to expeditious resolution of cases," he said.

Kiren Rijiju, the Union Law Minister, said on Saturday that the proposed Mediation Bill is now being considered by the parliamentary standing committee and will be passed soon once required revisions and amendments have been made.

The Union Minister was addressing at Ekta Nagar, Narmada, Gujarat, during a two-day national conference on "Mediation and Information Technology."

"Our government is fully committed to this issue, and I am pleased to report that the mediation law that was recently submitted in the legislature is progressing well. All parties, as well as Supreme Court judges, have given us their input. We also received comments from retired Supreme Court judges, and the bill is now before the parliamentary standing committee on law and justice for consideration. It will be passed with all necessary amendments as soon as it comes to us "He expressed himself.

He told the audience of the development while discussing the government's concerted efforts to expedite case resolution.

"Our government, led by Prime Minister Modi, is committed to resolving matters as quickly as possible. With so many cases pending, it's evident that we need to look into Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) as well as Information Technology "He expressed himself.

Rijiju also stated that the mediation bill has the potential to bring about transformative change in this respect.

"Since the Ramayana and Mahabharata periods, people have practised meditation. Litigants who use informal justice don't have to wait as long. In most parts of the country, dates and delays are a major issue "He expressed himself.

The Minister went on to discuss how the government's three institutions, the administration, legislature, and judiciary, work together to accomplish their goals. He believed that the three organs couldn't act in different directions because that would make enforcing the law more difficult.

"My office collaborates closely with Justice DY Chandrachud's Supreme Court E committee. I even told him that all states and stakeholders are on board, which he confirmed "said he.

He also told the audience that he and India's Chief Justice, NV Ramana, have a great connection and that every time the two meet, great ideas and proposals are exchanged.

"We will supply whatever the judicial expects from the government," he stated.

In fact, the Law Minister encouraged the Gujarat High Court Chief Justice to communicate the conference's outcome to him as soon as possible so that it may be implemented in its entirety.
